6. May 2022 – A second successful testing of Elop’s InsightCrawler, this time with the leading multinational construction and real estate service provider Implenia, marks an important milestone in the development of Elop’s crawler solution – proving its market potential.
“What we saw was impressing. We see significant potential for a solution like this as it’s much quicker, improves safety and reduces costs associated with inspections compared to the currently available technology in the market. An efficient and safe tool that can climb vertically on concrete infrastructures such as buildings, dams, cooling towers, and bridges could be of great use for bridge inspectors,” says Patrick Roth, New Business & Innovation Manager in Implenia.
This is the second successful testing of the crawler solution after the test with federal autobahn company Autobahn GmbH in Germany in March 2022.
“These two tests make us confident that there is a great market potential for this type of solution and proves that we are on right track with our plans to commercialize our crawler”, says Marcus Jocham, Head of Business Development in Elop.
The InsightCrawler is a tool that will be able to climb vertically on concrete infrastructures such as buildings, dams, cooling towers, and bridges to provide efficient mapping of its internal condition.
Such a scanner can also greatly improve the inspection authorities and companies’ inspection capabilities. As an example, today German motorway bridges are inspected every six years by means of a “hands-on inspection” by tapping them with a special hammer, but it only provides for a superficial test. With a solution like the InsightCrawler the German Autobahn company can see inside the bridges.
